SUMMARY: 

Do you love making data actionable to solve real world problems? Do you get excited about real-time, unstructured data?  As a Senior Data Engineer, NLP within the Data Science & Engineering group, you will leverage your data wrangling skills in combination with data architecture knowledge to create the best data pipelines for NLP within the compliance industry.  You will use the latest in unstructured data technologies and cloud services to ingest, transform, and stream our proprietary data across our platform to create resilient and scalable data pipelines.  The right candidate will collaborate with other data and technical staff to brainstorm and refine the future of how compliance data is managed and delivered to create a fair and equitable experience for all consumers.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Develop and own NLP ETL and ELT data pipelines from unstructured to structured using modern data practices and principles.
• Design data pipeline workflows to ingest and transform text extracted from different file types.
• Create Azure Data Factory processes for SQL and NoSQL data pipelines, and work in Azure SQL, to create tables, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
• Collaborate with software, design, and product teams as part of the delivery cycle to create amazing products and experiences that are seamless and flawless.
• Participate in the testing process including code reviews, manual testing, and unit testing.
• Assist with deployments and managing of SQL and NoSQL databases, and ETL processes.
• Identify technical issues (performance bottlenecks, data discrepancies, system defects) in data and software, perform root cause analysis, and communicate results effectively to the development team and other stakeholders.
• Provide recommendations on opportunities and improvements and participate in technology and analytics proof-of-concepts.
• Create detailed documentation that empowers other engineers and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data, Information Systems, or related field
• 5 years’ experience and proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server
• 5 years’ experience with ETL software like SSIS, Informatica, or other popular data pipeline.
• 2 years’ experience working in Microsoft Azure
• 2 years’ experience extracting data from unstructured files, such as XML, PDF, HTML
• Experience working in an agile development environment, or an understanding of the concepts of Agile software development.
• Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication, organization, technical, and project management skills.

PREFERRED:

• Experience with Altair Monarch, Captiva, corresponding open source NLP libraries (beautifulsoup, spacy, selenium), or similar tools
• Experience with Python or equivalent is a plus.
• Familiarity with other databases is a plus, particularly document and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps is a plus, or similar experience with Git, Jira, or other related tools.
• Experience in Mortgage and Compliance industry
